Let’s face it: 2020 wasn't anyone’s year. COVID-19 has thrown most plans, including the release of big studio films and indie hits alike.
But there’s good news, together we can stop the spread and keep the cameras rolling.
Both our epic hosts and awesome filmmakers have a role to play. For the safety of everyone on set, consider the following recommendations for your next production.
Guidelines for Hosts:
Always verify with the filmmaker which area(s) of the location the production intends to use before confirming the booking.
Clean the property and sanitise hard surfaces prior to the production crew arriving.
Inform the Renter (that’s our brilliant filmmakers!) of the cleaning protocols & requirements for the location.
Open approved windows and doors of the location for the production to assist with ventilation.
Here’s a biggie! As much as you’d love to, do not host productions if you have had symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms in the last 14 days.
Guidelines for Filmmakers:
Limit the total number of cast and crew for each production to allow for social distancing.
Confirm with the Filmspace Host what the cleaning procedures are for the location.
Require all cast and crew to wear masks and gloves while on set, except for cast while on camera only.
Have a designated COVID-19 officer on location to take temperatures of the cast and crew members, and to monitor who is on set for contact tracing purposes.
If any cast or crew member are ill or demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19, do not allow them on set and ensure that they stay home.
Provide hand sanitisers and hand soap for your crew and remind them to wash their hands frequently.
Set up staging and base camp outside to limit the number of people inside the location at one time.
Remove all trash from the location after the production.
Provide restrooms for the crew when possible.
Over here at Filmspace, we’ve put together a few handy documents which makes filmmaking and hosting safe and easy.
